Brendan wants to cover up

-

Brendan Rodgers wants to resurrect his predecessor’s plans for a Deila Dome at Celtic’s Lennoxtown base.

Norwe gi a n Ron ny claimed two years ago when he arrived at the Hoops he’d sacrifice transfer money to have a proper indoor facility to work with players when the weather is at its worst.

And as Rodgers hailed this season’s Premiership winter break in January as a brilliant idea to give him time to rest and reset his squad, he admitted Deila was right about the need for a ful l- size indoor pitch despite being denied it.

The Northern Irishman said: “You do need it. If you have the facility to do that up here, or the finances, I think you should.

“You can work all year and do great work but then the weather sets in. That’s the big advantage the Europeans have over us.

“You lose your coaching. You might go through three or four months, losing time, because it’s not about coaching, it’s about keeping the players warm.”

Some top-f light gaffers have criticised the break, including Rangers boss Mark Warburton, but Rodgers said: “The players will need it and enjoy it.

“It’s brilliant to have a block of time in January when we can recover, press the reset button and be ready to f ly again for the second half of the season.on.

“I’ ll probably take the players away. You need that up here. It’s like 50 shades of grey – it’s either grey or dark grey or light grey or even darker grey.

“To be fair, we’ve hadad a great run of weather since ince I’ve been here. It hasn’t even been cold. Then on Tuesdaysday it all kicked off and startedrted to get bad. Come January, uary, we’ll be ready for some sun.”un.”
