A murder hunt was launched yesterday for a dad’s killer.

The battered body of Malcolm McLaren, 40, was found in his flat on Thursday morning.

Malcolm, who previously worked as a baker and a security guard, has four sons.

Days before his death, Malcolm shared pictures of his sons on Facebook and wrote: “Love you all. They’re the main reason why I’m still bouncing around.”

Yesterday, Police Scotland announced they were treating the death as murder following a post mortem after Malcolm was found in in a first-floor flat in Airdrie.

He was last seen alive last Wednesday afternoon and police say they have yet to establish a motive for his murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Livingstone said: “Extensive inquiries have been ongoing with specialist officers and forensics teams conducting examinations at the scene.

“We are work ing to establish a motive for this murder and we are in the process of piecing together Mr McLaren’s movements in the days leading up to his death.

“Inquiries have revealed he was in Airdrie town centre around 3pm on Wednesday before making his way home to Clark Street.

“It ’ s impor tant we establish his movements from then on, where he went, who he saw, who he met. If anyone has any information please do get in touch.”
