The 33- year- old supermodel’s employee shot the man four times during the incident at her luxury mansion in Malibu, California.

The intruder, who is believed to be a homeless man, was reportedly caught trying to climb a fence to get access to the property, which the Australian shares with her five-yearold son, Flynn.

Miranda wasn’t home at the time of the incident, which happened at around 11.30am on Friday.

The injured security guard was airlifted to a Los Angeles hospital, where he was treated for a wound below his eye. His condition was described as stable.

Police said the alleged intruder was also being treated in hospital. He was in a critical condition but his injuries weren’t life-threatening.

It was reportedly the second time in a week that officers had responded to an intruder call at the model’s house.

Neighbour Craig Moore said: “It’s kind of a crazy thing to happen out here in Malibu.”

An LA County Sheriff ’s Off ice spokesman said : “When the deputies arrived at the residence they found an armed security guard was involved in a physical altercation with an intruder.

“During the physical altercation, the intruder stabbed the armed security guard and the armed security guard shot the intruder.”

Miranda bought the house in 2014 after her divorce from actor Orlando Bloom.

She was photographed at the 1960s ranch home for the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar and spoke of how she bought the property because it was so “protected and private”.

Miranda’s fiancé, Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel, recently bought a mansion for the pair in Brentwood, Los Angeles.
