Actor I didn’t harass the VP
The actor who told Rep u b l i can vice president-elect Mike Pence he was concerned about the Trump administration has denied the speech was harassment.
After the performance of award- winning musical Hamilton, Brandon Victor Dixon – who plays the US’s third vice president Aaron Burr – spoke directly to Pence from the stage.
He said: “We, sir, are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration wil l not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights.
“We truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us. All of us.”
On Saturday Trump demanded an apology on Twitter.
He tweeted: Our wonderful future VP Mike Pence was harassed last night at the theater by the cast of Hamilton, cameras blazing. This should not happen.
“The Theater must always be a safe and special place. The cast of Hamilton was very rude last night to a very good man, Mike Pence. Apologise.”
Dixon hit back, tweeting: “Conversat ion i s not harassment , sir. And I appreciate @mike-pence for stopping to listen.”
Indiana governor Pence was also roundly booed by fellow theatre goers after he arrived at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.
