always ask, ‘ What do you make of this?’ “Our whole family were musical – Lawrence was in a band that had a record deal, and I can play the piano and hold a tune. “We used to have great fun together, with dad always making us laugh. That’s what I miss the most.” Sara, who is a mum to Elizabeth, eight, and Robbie, five, says her dad was a doting grandad. He was also a proud Scot. She said: “Last weekend would have been a great weekend for him, with Scotland playing England, then the Scottish rugby team taking on Australia. “You feel his loss when you can’t phone and have a laugh about it.” Sara said her dad was devastated when just two weeks before his own death, his mother died.

She said: “Gran was living in a care home in Largs and dad used to go up a lot to visit.

“He was very upset when she died. One minute dad was up in Scotland with all our family saying goodbye to his mum, then just a few weeks later we had to say goodbye to him.”

Sara says she and her brother keep in contact with their Scottish family, and they’re looking forward to coming to Glasgow’s Old Fruitmarket on November 26 to attend this year’s SSE Scottish Music Awards.

The event raises money for music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins Scotland.

Sara says her dad would be delighted by the honour.

She said: “Nordoff Robbins is a charity that would have had my dad’s support. And he would be honoured to receive such a prestigious award.”
