Gary Anderson insists recent setbacks won’t floor his dreams of a World Championship hat-trick.

The Flying Scotsman won’t play again before the big one starts on December 15 after crashing out in round two of the Players Championship yesterday.

Anderson was sunk 6-5 at Minehead by Dutch outsider Ron Muelenkamp and is enduring a run of patchy form heading into the defence of his world crown at Alexandra Palace.

He said: “I’m making a real mess of things. When these new darts are going well, they are great, when they are not, I want to bin them.

“But when I get to Alexandra Palace I’ll get the angry head on and get at it.” Speedway starlet Jack Smi th reckons he has found a club that matches his ambition in Glasgow Tigers.

The highly-rated teenager said: “I’ve achieved a fair bit in my short career but to sign for such a big club as Glasgow is definitely a moment I will never forget.” Neil Watson insists Glasgow Rocks can’t get carried away af ter the longest winning streak in the club’s history.

Sterling Davis’ men can make it 10 victories on the bounce at Cheshire Phoenix in the British Basketball League tonight.

Watson said: “We know we have to come out ready to take care of business no matter who we play.” Andy Butchart and Callum Hawkins made it a Scottish one-two at the Euro Cross t r i a l s in Liverpool to book their spots in the British team for next month’s trip to Italy. A superb hat-trick from Mohammed Faeez helped lowly Uddingston claim a shock 4-2 win over Grove Menzieshi l l in hockey’s First Division.
