Warbs’ second opinion

-

was disappointed to find Gers so far behind Celtic and said: “I did expect us to be more competitive.

“I would have liked us to be a strong second at this time whereas we are still fighting for second.”

But when asked about King’s comments yesterday, Warburton said: “We’re in second tonight, aren’t we?

“The chairman was good very good to us, we had a good conversation,

“His comments were very supportive.

“He’ll support us in the windows as he has done, his communication is very good. And we sit second so we’re not doing too badly.”

However, the Ibrox boss felt a mixture of relief and frustration as Dodoo’s late double off the bench turned the Firhill clash around.

He said: “You can admire the work ethic and the desire but we were disappointing in the first half.

“We gave it away too cheaply, it was too open in midfield, we dropped deep and allowed them to take the ball and turn.

“But when we got moving through the thirds in the second half we looked a good side.

“We have to find solutions if there’s a problem and all credit to the players for keeping working to the end.

“Harry Forrester should have had a nailed-on penalty but we must take our chances.”

Rangers now travel to Hearts in midweek before hosting Aberdeen and then the Jambos.

But when asked if they needed a faster start against better quality opposition, the Ibrox boss said: “I don’t think so. Aberdeen have had differing results but it’s the same three points.

“There was no point in us looking at Hearts before we played Thistle, no point looking at Aberdeen before Wednesday night. Get it right one game at a time.”
