That ref was Sher torture

HIGHLAND LEAGUE

-

John Sheran was left raging with the ref after champions Cove Rangers slipped five points off the title pace with a 2-2 draw at Fraserburgh.

The Cove boss was deeply unhappy with Ryan Cowie’s late equaliser and also felt his team should have been awarded a goal that whistler David Watt didn’t give.

At 2-1 up, Blair Yule’s freekick hit the inside of both posts, with Sheran certain the ball had crossed the line.

He said : “We had a free-kick that was over the line and the linesman didn’t give it. We also had players getting kicked off the ball and the referee did nothing about it, other than flash a yellow card.

“For their second the ref played an advantage and nothing came of it. Then he pulled it back and Cowie scored the free-kick.

“How can the referee give an advantage and then pull it back and give the guy another go?”

Fraserburgh led through Gary Harris but Connor Scully and Mitch Megginson put Cove ahead before Cowie’s leveller.

Brora Rangers moved three points clear at the top as goals from Paul Brindle and Scott Lisle sealed a 2-1 win over Turriff United.

Buckie Thist le were knocked off the summit by a 3- 2 defeat at For res Mechanics with Lee Fraser netting the winner.

Formartine’s title bid looks to be in tatters after a 1-1 draw at Fort William left them nine points adrift.

Sean Ellis had Fort ahead but Scott Barbour levelled for Formartine.
