Ian calls for killer instinct

-

Hearts boss Ian Cathro insists his team will go for Celtic’s throats at Parkhead this afternoon.

The Jambos gaffer isn’t interested in shutting up shop against the champions in their own back yard. He’s adamant they’ l l attack Brendan Rodgers’ side in search of a positive result.

And he hinted he could hand rookie striker Rory Currie a start in Glasgow following his Scottish Cup goal in midweek against Raith Rovers.

Cathro said: “We want to score goals. That’s one of the things that’s important in the psychological part of going to Celtic Park.

“Sometimes you go into a game and don’t want to concede. Well, we want to go and play – and we want to score.

“The Raith game was a massive test for the players in t e rms of fi g ht , togetherness, attitude and character. That’s needed all the time but it is tested more on certain occasions.

“We passed that test on Wednesday night and now we have to deal with Celtic.

“It wi l l be a total ly different game against a very well-trained team who have the best quality in the country.

“In terms of Rory, it’s quite simple. At training he has shown me the qualities that I want in the team.

“Whoever does that will play. It’s not a case of young player, old player. It’s about the one who shows me what I want.

“Rory has done that and played well against Raith.

“We need more options up front, to bring more energy and drive in attack.”

Cathro will go toe-to-toe with Rodgers for the f irst time today and he praised the Celtic gaffer’s achievements.

He said: “He has come through different ci r cums t a nc e s a nd achieved at the top level.

“He’s one of the top coaches around.”
