Attack victim’s claim 7 years after rape case against police officer was ditched

“He then became breathless and dizzy and suffered palpitatio­ns.

“I’ve contacted the police every time he’s been here but they can’t do anything unless he commits a crime. I feel quite helpless.”

Lorraine was in a relationsh­ip with Campbell for 13 years until 2008. After she told police he had raped and abused her, off icers found video footage of one alleged attack on a computer.

Campbell was initially charged with rape and attempted murder and his lawyers instructed Paul McBride QC to defend him.

Prosecutor­s Frank Mulholland and Derek Ogg were key figures in both cases.

Campbell’s guilty pleas to the lesser charges were accepted.

Lorraine said: “The failure of the Crown to proceed with the charges has enabled him to continue the cycle of abuse against me.”

Campbell’s lawyer Aamer Anwar said: “Mr Campbell is entitled to be at his side of the farm to ensure that property is not moved or damaged as well as carry out measuremen­ts. He has had a witness with him to corroborat­e his version of events.”
