Gr-eight present for Carlo

-

Carlo Ancelotti celebrated his 1000th game as a boss in style as his Bayern Munich side demolished Hamburg 8- 0 in the Bundesliga.

Robert Lewandowski led the demolition job with a hat - t r i ck whi le sub Kingsley Coman helped himself to a double at the Allianz Arena.

The other goals came from Arturo Vidal, David Alaba and Arjen Robben as Bayern stayed five points clear of Leipzig at the top.

Proud Ancelotti said: “It was a perfect day, perfect game. The team was fantastic and I’m delighted.”

Thomas Muller didn’t get on the scoresheet but his gaffer insisted the forward was his man of the match.

The former Real Madrid, PSG, AC Milan, Chelsea and Juventus boss said: “Thomas was the key man. The best player on the field. He was involved in every attack.”

The hammering equalled Hamburg’s heaviest league defeat and they sit third bottom of the table.

Leipzig kept up their title bid with a 3-1 home win over Cologne thanks to strikes from Emil Forsberg and Timo Werner and an own goal from Dominic Maroh.

Sevilla moved level on points with Spanish leaders Real Madrid after a 2-1 derby win at Real Betis.

Betis went ahead through a Riza Durmisi free-kick before Gabriel Mercado and Vicente Iborra won it for their city rivals.

Sevilla join Real on 52 points but have an inferior goal difference and have played two games more.

Real travel to Villarreal today while Barcelona, who sit one point adrift having played a game more, face a tough match at fourthplaced Atletico Madrid.

Valencia failed to follow up their midweek heroics against Real Madrid as they lost 2-1 at Alaves.

Carlos Soler put Valencia in front but strikes from Ibai Gomez and Aleksandar Katai in the last 12 minutes turned the game around.
