Harry’s debt to Warbs

-

Harry Forrester admits he’ll always be grateful to old boss Mark Warburton for luring him to Rangers.

The Gers winger worked alongside Warbs at Watford and Brentford before he came to Ibrox.

Forrester was stunned when he left two weeks ago but is certain both Warburton and David Weir will be back in work soon enough.

The 26-year-old said: “It was a shock when it happened. But we’re professionals and we have a job to do here.

“It’s never nice to see a manager go but to see Mark leave after he’d brought me in meant I felt for him. But it’s part of football, unfortunately gaffers come and go.

“I’m sure whatever happens from here on in, he’ll be in good stead.

“I’d say they’ll pop up in England somewhere. I’m just grateful to him for bringing me to such a good club. Most of the players have had some form of contact with him, a thank you from Davie or the gaffer.

“That’s the sort of guys they are.

“But now we have to get it right on the football pitch for Rangers.”

Forrester is now trying to show stand-in boss Graeme Murty that he merits a place in the starting line-up, having been a peripheral figure for Gers this term.

He knows the players have failed to perform and must improve under Murty.

Forrester said: “Murts has come in and he’s been positive.

“He’s been the same with us as he is with the kids at the club. He’s put down a few markers of where he thinks we’re slacking – and we’re trying to rectify it.

“Of course, it has been a bit unsettling.

“I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t have an affect – but we’re all adults.

“In the last few weeks we haven’t been at the level required but we’ll stick together and get through it.”
