Durnan’s deflected late goal lets jammy Arabs keep their record
Dundee United clung on to a long-standing club record thanks to defender Mark Durnan’s lucky late equaliser at Tannadice.
Morton captain Lee Kilday’s f i rst- hal f header took the Greenock men to within seven minutes of their first win at the stadium since September 1978 but they couldn’t hold on.
They also missed the chance to leapfrog their opponents into second place.
United boss Ray McKinnon said: “We’re disappointed not to have taken the three points but I have to give my players credit for salvaging a point.
“We’d a poor first half and there was no challenge on Morton’s scorer but we could have won on the number of chances created.”

minute, Kilday bulleting into the roof of the net with a far- post header from Ross Forbes’ corner from the right.
United should have scored when Charlie Telfer brilliantly picked out Scott Fraser with a 20-yard pass into the box. He teed himself up for an easy finish with his first touch before somehow blootering over the bar from eight yards.
Home substitute Simon Murray had a great chance from close range after 65 minutes following a Thomas Mikkelsen knockdown but Derek Gaston did well to get down and block the shot.
But it was 1-1 after 83 minutes when Fraser delivered a corner into the goalmouth and Ricki Lamie’s attempted clearance went into the net off Durnan, who didn’t seem to know much about it.
Ton boss Jim Duffy said: “There was a tinge of disappointment in the dressing room but we were outstanding in the first half.
“You can’t be too downhearted with a point at Tannadice.”
