Lenny is sick of his clumsy clots

CHAMPIONSHIP

- Hibs .........................2 Dumbarton ............2

Neil Lennon insists he is getting sick of his league leaders letting him and the fans down after they failed to kill off part-time Dumbarton.

The Hibs boss reckons it is time the players stood up and explained their ‘ pedestrian, clumsy and sloppy’ shows.

Christian Nade’s penalty put Sons 1-0 up and although Daniel Harvie’s own goal levelled things, Robert Thomson again put Stevie Aitken’s side in front. James Keatings then had a penalty saved before Martin Boyle saved Lennon’s blushes.

Lenny, though, said: “We’ve only ourselves to blame for this. I was pleased with the secondhalf performance but the first-half display – it’s not acceptable.

“Managers take responsibility a lot but it was nothing to do with tactics. We were pedestrian, clumsy, sloppy, all the things we gave them warnings about before the game and they go out and do it.

“I’m sick of them doing this and sick of us dropping points at home for not approaching games the right way. It’s not me you should be asking, you should be asking the players because I sound like a broken record.”

Lennon admitted the hairdryer treatment ensured that they didn’t go home pointless. But he hopes his side can up their game for Falkirk and Morton next up.

He said: “I’m not even sure if

they had a sweat on at half-time but they certainly did after I finished with them.

“We play Falkirk and Morton next and can make life easier for ourselves by winning those.”

Hibs shot themselves in the foot as Sons won a penalty in the 37th minute when Andy Stirling was upended by Marvin Bartley.

Nade did the business from the spot but Hibs drew level in 57 minutes when Harvie knocked the ball into his own net under pressure at the back post.

Five minutes later Sons stunned Hibs again when Alan Martin’s kick was knocked down by Nade and Thomson hit home into the corner from 20 yards.

Hibs were handed a lifeline in the 69th minute after Grant Holt appeared to be pulled down by Darren Barr but Martin stopped Keatings’ effort.

Martin was guilty of a horror error that allowed Boyle to level in 83 minutes after dropping the ball at the striker’s feet.

Sons boss Aitken, whose side are only four points above bottom side St Mirren, defended his No.1.

He said: “Alan is gutted but he has been outstanding for us and saved a penalty.

“He was playing with an injury and we had to strap him up.”
