Cats can expect five-star treatment at feline hotel

It’s the purrfect destinatio­n for your pet’s next holiday – the Clyde Valley Cat Hotel, where all the guests get a room with a “mew”.

Scotland’s most sumptuous hotel for cats opens its doors tomorrow.

Boasting 10 themed suites with luxury beds, thermostat­ically controlled heating, private indoor runs and memory foam scratching posts, it is the moggy equivalent of The Ritz.

The pampered pets will be treated to daily grooming a nd pl ay a nd cuddle sessions, while a selection of fe l ine- f r iend ly mus ic wi l l be piped into their £ 14- a- night f ivestar apartments.

Owners, who wil l get regular updates and photos, can pay extra for the hotel’s “A la Cat” menu, which features a breakfast of scrambled eggs and a choice of hand-cooked seafood mains.

The luxury cattery in Rosebank, Lanarkshir­e, also offers a nightly turn-down service with warm milk and a selection of treats.

Last week, the boutique hotel got a massive paws-up from a select group of cats who got to road test the venue exclusivel­y for the Sunday Mail before its official opening.

Cream and white persian Lord Archie, who will be the hotel’s first resident, was a big fan of the waiter service, the leopardpri­nt chaise longue and the view from the Clyde Suite. His owner Frankie Martis, 53, who lives nearby, said: “The hotel is fabulous. There is nowhere else like it in Scotland. Lord Archie is my baby and I want the best for him.

“He has a pet passport and often travelstra­v with me to our villa in Cyprus, wherewhe he swims in the pool, but this time we area having to leave him at home for a fortnight.for

“I’veI been really worried about it but, afterafte seeing the five-star treatment he is gogoing to get while we are away, I’m now reallyreal happy. What cat wouldn’t enjoy such luxury?”

TheTh hotel, which is the brainchild of dancedan teacher Tracey Murdoch and her companycom manager husband Gary, has been two years in the making.

Mum-of-two Tracey, 46, said: “I’ve always loved animals and opening a place like this has been a dream of mine.

“We live in such a beautiful corner of the world and thought it would be the perfect place for a cat hotel.

“We’ve had lots of bookings already and are looking forward to welcoming gorgeous Lord Archie tomorrow.”
