had water damage to the kitchen, hal lway and back bedroom. Other issues included electrics, missing radiators, vents and insulation, pipes and guttering. They had no intention of fixing things.”
Liquidators were called in last month as the firm owe £208,000 to trade creditors and £158,000 to the taxman. Georgina contacted me when she discovered Leigh Moffat had set up two other businesses, Epiphany K i tchens and Bathrooms on Februar y 6 and Inf inite Joinery and Construction on February 7.
Moffat resigned as a director of Epiphany on February 24 but remains a director of Infinite.
Georgina said: “We’ve made a claim with the liquidator but are not optimistic.”
A spokesman for Moffat said: “We had no alternative but to go into voluntary liquidation. Mr Moffat is on various sites of past clients finishing their jobs at his own expense.
“Regarding health and safety, we terminated the plumber’s employment as his work was not up to standard.”
But the spokesman went on to blame the couple , say ing the premises were not watertight due to their actions.
He added: “The cl ient preferred to supply various materials directly – these were vital to the quality of the finished product . The job was not completed as our employees were banned from the site.”
Georgina is considering legal action. he’d turned off the power to the alarm, leaving it running on battery back-up – and the battery died.
“He’d also fitted the smart meter boxes directly below the panel restricting access.”
I got on to ScottishPower and they quickly apologised, moved the meter boxes and covered the cost of the repairs.
