You will get estate share

-

My widower dad died and left a will which left everything to my sister. The will was written years ago when we weren’t speaking. I am adopted and there is only my sister and I. Am I entitled to anything? You are, as parents cannot disinherit their children in Scotland. Also, adopted children have the same rights as natural children for the purposes of succession. As your dad had no spouse, you have a legal rights claim to a quarter of his moveable estate – i.e. money, shares and jewellery. Speak to the solicitor handling the estate.
