Boxer, 17, dies after collapse

An investigation is under way after a 17- year- old amateur boxer died following a fight.

Eddie Bilbey, from Ripley, near Derby, was given medical treatment at the bout on Friday night but was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.

A post-mortem is due to be carried out to establish the cause of death.

Pol ice have appealed for anyone with footage of the bout to contact the investigations team.

A force spokesman said: “There don’t appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding this death.”
