Concert for Corrie? It’s just sickening

Gig for lost RAF man slammed

- Jenny Morrison

The heartbroken dad of missing RAF gunner Corrie McKeague has hit out at a plan to hold a concert in his son’s name.

Martin McKeague says staging the event would be inappropriate until his son is found.

The dad of three – who has admitted the family have been involved in a bitter dispute – criticised the gig idea revealed by his ex-wife Nicola Urquhart last week.

Martin, 48, of Cupar, Fife, said: “It’s a disgrace that plans are being made to hold ‘Corrie’s Concert’ when we have not even found our son. It’s in bad taste.”

Corrie disappeared after a night out with friends in Bury St Edmunds, Suf folk, last September 24. CCTV footage captured him walking into a refuse loading bay at 3.25am but he was never seen again.

Police now believe he may have climbed into or been placed in a bin that was collected from the loading bay by a Biffa lorry shortly after he vanished.

Former oil worker Martin insists he and his wife Trisha, who have been together for 13 years, say they have “complete faith” inthe work being carried out by Suffolk Police to find Corrie.

Last week, the couple made their third visit to the landfill site where police continue to search for Corrie’s body.

Martin said: “We have guys out there in all weathers raking through tonnes of rubbish every day searching for Corrie.

“We haven’t found him. We don’t know what happened to him and there hasn’t even been a funeral. I’m not in any mood to be thinking about singing or dancing – the thought of it is sickening.”
