£500,000 payout for pals next door

Two lucky neighbours yesterday scooped almost £500,000 with the People’s Postcode Lottery.

Sheila Black, 64, and Susan Lindsay, 52, of Brechin, pocketed £239,663.

Players found out last week that residents in postcode area DD9 6 would be in line for a payout.

Sheila and Susan collected the l ion’s share of the £ 3million prize pot at a winners’ celebratio­n in Montrose.

Susan was a l ready celebratin­g on a hen party with friends from the local area and described winning as “the luckiest moment of her life”.

She said: ” I’m total ly overwhelme­d.

“It’s true what they say – you don’t think something like this could happen to you until it does. “It’s life- changing.” Sheila said the win would make a massive difference to her life and is looking forward to visiting her son in Australia now.

She said: “It’s amazing. I’ll be able to help my family and visit my son in Australia – in fact, after seeing how much I’ve won, I’ll be able to go a few times.”

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Jeff Brazier was thrilled to hand out the winning cheques.

The TV presenter said: “It’s been an amazing day in Brechin. It’s an amazing feeling to hand over those cheques and it’s great to hear how our players are planning to use their winnings. Congratula­tions all our winners.”
