Avengers crew assemble on the Royal Mile to make £400m movie

Merciless Avengers baddie Corvus Glaive will wreak havoc in Edinburgh in new movie Infinity Wars.
A stuntman has been f i lmed wielding a huge double- ended sabre while teetering on the edge of a stone balcony on the Royal Mile, where the £ 400million blockbuster is being made.
The performer was wearing a special motion capture suit for the scenes, which will be used later to animate the character on to the Edinburgh backdrop using CGI technology.
The weapon appears to be the trademark device brandished by Avengers villain Corvus.
He is the ruthless henchman of the superheroes’ enemy the Mad Titan Thanos.
Corvus, reportedly being played by Kong: Skull Island actor Ter r y Notar y, is considered a master military strategist and has helped Thanos destroy worlds.
The Sunday Mail revealed in January that the comic book adventure starring Hollywood superstars Robert Downey Jr and Scarlett Johansson was to be made in the Scottish capital.
Director Joe Russo revealed last month that Edinburgh will be showcased in the mega-bucks movie.
He said : “Wh en Edinburgh came up as a location option, we jumped at the chance.
“The city is such a unique and iconic location but one never seen as the backdrop for a big action film.”
The plot is being kept secret but it’s rumoured that some of the superheroes go into hiding in Edinburgh after the events of Avengers: Civil War.
Infinity Wars is expected to be the biggest blockbuster made in Scotland – boosting the economy by £10million. The shoot will also use locations in Glasgow and the Highlands.
