Trump adds another rotten egg to his basket of baddies

The Trump administration’s policy of only hiring the very worst people continued last week with Sheriff David Clarke’s statement that he had been offered a senior position as assistant secretary in the department of Homeland Security.

For those of you unfamiliar with him, Clarke looks exactly like Mick Johnson from Brookside. (Kids, ask your parents.) There, however, the fun ends. Among other things, Clarke has said he’d like to “strangle” Democrats, has travelled to Russia (strangely at the same time Mike Flynn was there) and talked about how great Russia is, and has compared the Black Lives Matter movement to the Ku Klux Klan. And four prisoners have died in mysterious circumstances at the jail he oversees in Milwaukee (including a man who died of dehydration after Clarke’s staff cut his water off for six days). By any possible reckoning, Clarke is an awful, terrible man.

But he possesses the only qualification necessary to succeed in Trump Land: He is utterly, 100 per cent, loyal to Trump.

Hopefully he’ll end up going down with the boss.
