Andy a shoe-in to hit mile target

-

Andrew Lemoncello can’t wait to start his dream job – helping to create new running shoes for sportswear giants Adidas.

But before he heads to America, the veteran has a special target to aim for at today’s Scottish Marathon in Stirling.

Fifer Lemoncello, 34, said: “I have one small aspiration still, which is to get a four-minute mile.

“I still have a ton of speed in my legs so I’m thinking of going for that.”

Lemoncello admits he’s delighted with the current generation of Scottish stars.

He added: “Back in 2008 I was the first male Scottish distance runner since 1992 to make an Olympics. Now Andrew Butchart, Callum Hawkins, Laura Muir and Lynsey Sharp are fighting to be at the very top.”

Legends Liz McColganNuttall and Zola BuddPieterse will roll back the years in the women’s race.
