Award is proof I’m back

-

Scott Sinclair was delighted to pick up the Football Writers’ Player of the Year award and says his goal return at Celtic has exceeded all expectations.

The winger, who is the first English winner since Paul Gascoigne, has hit 25 goals for the Hoops on the way to a potential Treble.

He says it has been a dream move to Parkhead under Brendan Rodgers – but admits the level of Celtic’s achievement won’t sink in for a while.

He said: “It’s great to pick up this award. It has just been good for me to get my form back on track and get prizes like this.

“As soon as I came off the bench to score against Hearts in my first game it has been non-stop from there.

“We have two more games to go now, against Hearts and the Scottish Cup Final.

“If we win them it will have been an incredible season.

“From my position as a wide player I’d have been happy with 10 to 15 goals. So to get 25 is great – it shows the attributes I can bring to this team.

“Hopefully I can keep improving and get better.

“We still have a bit of work to do. We have two important games and once that’s finished I’ll go away with the family.

“That’s when I will relax, look back and reflect on how the season has gone.”
