Keepers have a field day

- GORDON PARKS ARKS

After booming a few kicks far too long, Craig Gordon was beaten by a quality finish from Jonny Hayes in the ninth minute.

But seconds later Joe Lewis was picking the ball out of his net.

There’s no doubt the amount of bodies Lewis had to peer through was a factor as Stuart Armstrong slammed his effort home.

Gordon’s improved distribution with his feet has been a feature this season but he still doesn’t instil confidence with his kicking. He was slack on several occasions and fortunate not to be punished.

But the Scotland keeper made a double save on the half-hour mark to deny Jayden Stockley and then Ryan Jack, as Celtic’s goal looked increasingly vulnerable.

Lewis was relieved to see a Leigh Griffiths free-kick scream past his post a few minutes before the break.

The Dons keeper excelled himself in the 64th minute with a fingertip save from Patrick Roberts to push the ball on to the post.

Both keepers swept up well at the back and Gordon read the danger in the 72nd minute to race from his box and intercept a pass intended for Adam Rooney.

Then a Graeme Shinnie shot from distance was brilliantly pushed wide by Gordon before Lewis beat away a strike from Griffiths.

Lewis was finally beaten at his near post in the last few seconds but takes the honours for his superb stop to prevent Patrick Roberts from finding the bottom corner.
