Runners sought for new charity challenge

NordoffN Robbins Scotland’s Race the Roof takes place on Sunday, AugustAu 20, with the support of the SundaySun Mail.
VerticalV running is a new sports disciplinedis which sees athletes run up tall man- made structures, usuallyusu their internal staircases.
ParticipantsP will run a course that winds through the Hydro before ascending the stairs to the finish line at the roof.
The 1.9km course is open to people aged 16 and over, of all running abilities, and when they have completed it, they can enjoy food, massages and live DJs.

chairman Donald McLeod said: “We are always looking for new and fun ways to encourage fundraising and this is a unique opportunity to experience the SSE Hydro in a different way, while helping us raise essential funds.”
Glasvegas guitarist Robert Allan is a keen runner. He said: “Race the Roof is a great challenge for anyone wanting to try something a bit different to the usual charity runs.
“Our aim is to make Race the Roof a dynamic and exciting sports fundraising event for people of all fitness levels in Scotland and we’re really excited to be the first charity to introduce a vertical running challenge here.”
