Death tower must never happen again

-

If only it had been a scene from a movie. Then maybe the horror images of the Grenfell Tower fire could be pushed from our minds. Instead, they’re indelible.

That it occurred here in strictly regulated Britain, with all our health and safety protocols, beggars belief. No wonder now there is so much rage.

The warnings of tenants and pleas for action went unheeded.

In Kensington, where the average property price is nearly £ 2million, the poor residents were piled into a council high-rise that clearly was a death trap. How can any of us be confident in the buildings we inhabit if a recently refurbished, publicly funded structure can be so flawed?

The fire of Grenfell Tower is a national scandal. And it must now change many things in this nation.
