Hewitt Di ex set for hospital release

-

James Hewitt is to get out of hospital after recovering from a heart attack.

The former lover of Princess Diana was left fighting for life, having also suffered a stroke and other complications.

At one point doctors gave the ex-Army officer, 58, a “slim chance” of survival.

But after almost seven weeks in hospital, Hewitt has made a good recovery and is wearing a shirt and tie in his hospital bed.

A source said: “He is doing much better. He’s been sat up in bed, fully dressed.

“He’s had enough of being in hospital and is making that known to the staff.

“He’s certainly got his spirit back and is looking forward to get t ing on with his life. He is still on antibiotics but is expected out in the next week.”

Hewitt, who had a fiveyear affair with the princess while she was married to Prince Charles, was taken to hospital last month after the heart attack at his Devon home.

It’s understood he fell ill while waiting to see an NHS consultant.

A friend said at the time: “He was a l l set for a procedure when he had a heart attack. He had a preexisting illness, then got seriously ill. Suddenly it got very critical and he was rushed to hospital.”

Hewitt’s i l lness came weeks af ter he gave a rare interview to Australian TV in which he denied long-standing rumours he is Prince Harry’s father. He said: “No, I’m not.”
