Hungry Harry’s plotting historic World Cup win and 50 goals next term

-

Harry Kane reckons he can score 50 goals for club and country next season – on his way to lifting the World Cup with England.

The Spurs striker netted 38 times in 41 games last term and was the scourge of Scotland with a last-gasp leveller in last week’s 2-2 draw at Hampden.

But Kane insists he would have broken through the half- century barrier if he hadn’t missed three months with injury.

Now the English Premier League’s double Golden Boot winner is looking to notch up the kind of tally that is unheard of outside the annual La Liga shoot-out between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

And with Spurs back in the Champions League and England on course for the World Cup, that’s great news for Mauricio Pochettino and Gareth Southgate.

Kane certainly doesn’t lack belief. He said: “The number of goals I have scored is pretty good – but 50 goals is a target I would now love to get.

“Hopefully I can stay fit for the whole campaign next season.

“It’s a shame this season is ending because I still feel fresh.

“Having the injuries I had and being out for three months means I still feel in good shape physically.

“But there is plenty of stuff to work on for next year.

“I’ve got a nice break now. I’ll enjoy it. It will freshen my mind more than anything so I can come back next season and hopefully do even better.

“Going into next season with Spurs is very exciting after coming second in the league.

“We’ve also got the Champions League again and we obviously want to improve on what we did.

“Then, hopefully, there’s the World
