No time to draw breath

Chris Millar knows the clock is ticking on his days in Europe.

So the veteran St Johnstone midfielder plans to make the most of it.

After a week-long training camp at Largs, the Perth squad are looking forward to tomorrow’s draw for the Europa League qualifiers.

Millar said: “I’m really optimistic and really looking forward to it. I’m 34 so I don’t know if I will get a chance to play in Europe again.

“We still talk about the Rosenborg game. That was a real career highlight.

“We’ll aim high and look to make the group stage.”

Tommy Wright’s men had just 19 days off before beginning the build up to another Euro campaign.

Millar said: “It has been a short turnaround but everyone is upbeat.

“I had to leave the family holiday early and the two wee girls were a bit upset. But you have to get back into work.”

The midfielder is keen to avoid another long-haul like the gruelling trip to Armenia two years ago.

He said: “I would like to be close to home so fans can see us play. The heat can kill you in some countries.”
