KLF Bill They didn’t thrown the R away

-

KLF founder and musical maverick Bill Drummond made his contribution to the documentary as art entitled The Man Proclaims. He said: “It was 1986, I was 33-anda-third years old. Things were going nowhere. Time for a revolution in my life. “I decided to write, record and release my own album, The Man. I sung the songs in my own accent and my long-term colleague, David Balfe, just said, ‘Nobody outside of Scotland wants to hear songs sung in a Scottish accent.’

“Then the next day, David phones me and said he had seen two brothers on The Tube singing in their own accent, a Scottish accent, and they were brilliant.

“He said we should sign them to our music publishing company.

“There was no YouTube and I had to take his word that they were brilliant.

“So we signed them…and they still are brilliant.”
