120 buried as landslide hits village

A massive landslide has left more than 120 people buried in a Chinese village.

At least 15 people were said to have died in yesterday’s tragedy.

A cluster of 62 homes and a hotel were engulfed when the side of a mountain gave way, sending huge rocks and earth crashing to the area below in Xinmo, Mao County.

More than 400 workers, including police, are involved in the search effort and two people were pulled alive from rubble.

Experts claimed the landslide may have been triggered by heavy rain in the area.
