Aussies watching Ryan’s every move via new app

“I had a strong finish to the season with Thistle so it was a bit of a downer not to be included in the national team for such a big tournament.

“However, I have been watching all their games and during my pre-season routine the coaching staff have been keeping tabs on me with a little app we have that monitors our training schedules and workloads.

“The focus for me right now is to start the domestic season really well with Partick Thistle and try to get into the September squads.

“The Australian selectors are totally plugged into everything I’m doing here in Scotland. The app records your pre-training, how many hours you’ve stepped, muscle soreness and other things like that. Then afterwards you situations where you might be at risk of getting injured.

“It’s quite new. Australian­s are very good with their sports science so they’ll probably look for it to be a thing that could be rolled out to other national and domestic teams throughout the world. It’s very innovative.

“All the boys I’ve spoken to say the manager watches everything and takes everything into considerat­ion.”
