KING CELTS HAVE ONLY WON 2 IN A ROW

Dave King last night branded the titles Celtic earned without Rangers in the league worthless – and insisted they’ve only won two in a row.

Now Dave King insists those days are all but over for Rangers.

And when they are, he is adamant what will be left will be a club which for the first time in a generation washes its own face. Balances it books.

The chairman’s relief on Thursday at del ivering an agreement to release the chokehold Mike Ashley and Sports Direct had over their commercial and retail potential was palpable.

A deal most believed couldn’t be escaped is suddenly a whole lot less onerous, despite the devil of the detail being in short supply.

Whatever it is, though, it will surely be better for a club whose fans were desperate to support but whose blue pound had to stay in their pockets under protest.

However, with retail profit now on the horizon, and European football returning this Thursday King insists it’s the signal for stability they’ve been waiting for to end the culture of short-term handouts from himself, Douglas Park, George Letham and George Taylor which have been funding the club’s running for the past two years and the entirety of their transfer activity this summer.

It’s still expected at some point that an egm and a rights issue will be required to raise the funds to repay some of those loans but escaping the cycle was always King’s aim. He said: “We have to get to that point when Rangers are back in Europe on a regular basis,
