Corrie’s dad We must not give up

-

The heartbroken father of missing airman Corrie McKeague will ask police chiefs not to give up on the search for his son.

Martin McKeague will meet bosses from Suffolk and Norfolk pol ice on Monday and ask them to keep searching a landfill site until Corrie’s body is found.

Martin, 48, of Cupar, Fife, said: “As a family, we were told last week that the search was going to come to an end on Friday.

“I kept praying right up until the last bucket of waste was lifted that we would get Corrie back.

“I ’ m beyond hear t - broken that didn’t happen.

“As a father, I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t do everything I could to persuade the people in charge to keep searching, so that’s what I’ll do.

“I’m not going to demand or beg but I’m hopeful they will listen to my reasoning.”

He added: “I’ve supported the decisions made by Suffolk and Norfolk Police every step of the way in their investigation.

“And I know every single of f icer involved in the search for Corrie wants to find him just as much as we, his family, do.”

Corrie, 23, went missing af ter a night out with pals in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, last September.

Ma r t in h it out at suggestions that a tip- off led to police deciding to search the landfill site.

He said: “The unusually heavy weight of the bin lifted from where Corrie was last seen led to them starting the search at the landfill. All the facts still point to him being there.”

A petition cal ling for the landfill site search to continue has been signed by 11,000 people in 12 hours.
