Writer claims book will shock rock world

Norman Silvester A new book aboutut tragic AC/DC frontman n Bon Scott claims to o reveal the truth behind d the rocker’s death.

Scott, from Kirriemuir near r Forfar, died aged 33 in a pal’s s car in London after a huge booze session.

Now, 37 years on, author Jesse Fink claims he has new informatio­n on the singer’s final hours.

The book, Bon – The Last Highway, will focus on friend nd Alistair Kinnear, the last person on to see him alive and who also found his body.

Fink claims to have had unpreceden­ted access to Scott’s former girlfriend­s and newly unearthed documents.

The Sydney-based writer says the book, out in November, will shock the rock world. He added: “There are so many unanswered questions around the death of Bon and the three years leading up to it. He was an exceptiona­l talent who never got his due when he was alive.”

Fink has delved deeper into Scott’s death in February 1980. In the hours before the tragedy, theth singer and pal KinnearKin were in a club in LLondon’s Camden. ScottS is said to have passedpass out in the car as KinnearKin­n drove him home. UnableUn to wake him, KinnearKin­n headed to his own flat in East Dulwich and leleft him in the car. In tthe morning, another pal is said to have told KinnearKin­ne the car was empty. But whwhen he went to check that evevening, he found the singer deadd inside. A coronercor ruled he died from acuacute alcohol poisoning. Kinnear is reported to have gone missing on a yacht between France and Spain in 2006. Scott, who emigrated to Australia aged six, joined Scots brothers Angus and Malcolm Young in AC/DC in 1974. The singer is celebrated every year at the Bon Scott Rock Festival in Kirriemuir.
