TRIPLE EFFECT Fahey seals Sprint win No.3

- Rockavon

Bengali Boys gave Richard Fahey his third Weatherbys Super Sprint success in the last five years at Newbury.

A field of 23 went to post for the five-furlong contest but they didn’t stand a chance against the 12-1 shot who powered into the lead a furlong out under Barry McHugh.

The Clodovil juvenile clearly has a decent engine and scorched clear to beat Declarationoflove (20-1) by six lengths with stablemate Maggies Angel (9- 4 Fav) third.

Fahey said: “He was very impressive, he didn’t look like he was going to get beat at any stage.

“The soft ground has helped him. We thought it would but you don’t know until you run them on it.

“The handicapper will obviously have a say. I’ve no concrete plans at this stage but I guess we’ll be looking at a Listed or Group race for him next.”

Magical Memory (3-1 Fav) routed his rivals in the Hackwood.

The result was never in doubt once Frankie Det tori sent Charlie Hills’ gelding to the front a furlong out and he cruised home by a length-and-a-quarter from Perfect Angel (20-1).

Hills said: “He’s really tough and Frankie gave him a great ride, it’s great to have him back on board.

“I ’ m delighted for everyone involved. It’s amazing. We had a terrible run at Ascot and it’s amazing what it does to get a horse’s head back in front. Ever since Haydock he’s shown us the right signs and he’s back on an upward curve.”
