PEDRO CHASES JAMIE & KENNY

- Scott McDermott

Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha wants two more new players at Ibrox – and dropped a heavy hint that Jamie Walker and Kenny McLean are still his prime targets.

The Portuguese gaffer watched his side draw 1-1 with Marseille at Ibrox yesterday in their first outing since they crashed out of the Europa League.

Caixinha has already signed nine summer recruits but is now keen to make it 11 before the start

of the Premiership campaign. And with the club already having bids rejected for Hearts winger Walker and Aberdeen ace McLean he suggested they won’t give up their pursuit of the duo.

After the friendly draw wiwith the French side at Ibrox, Caixinha said: “I think you know how many more players I want. We have our targets but the transfer window doesn’t close for a few more weeks.

“I won’t mention names but you ( the media) identified two players and we need two more players.

“We’ll try to have them with us. If not the two, then at least one.”

Hearts want £1million for Walker and threw out a bid of around £ 500,000 for a player with one year left on his contract.

Meanwhile, Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes was adamant when he agreed to stay at Pittodrie that midfielder McLean would not be sold.

Caixinha’s side have two games in England next week before they kick off their Premiership campaign a ga ins t Motherwel l on August 6.

And the gaffer said: “I’m confident that we’ll be ready for Motherwel l in two weeks. Our last three matches, Marseille, Watford and Sheffield Wednesday are totally different in that we’ll have to focus totally for 90 minutes.

“That’s what we want to prepare for the start of the season. Those teams will give us problems that you don’t get in the Scottish game.

“We’re growing and we’ll have a good week at Bisham Abbey. We’ l l have the rhythm, the game time and the momentum going into the Motherwell match.

“To have control of the game against a team like Marseille you have to make sacrifices and the boys did that today. I’m pleased by how we played.”
