Jon: Brendan was disgrace to say that
manager last week, Rodgers was sympathetic towards him but questioned the structure he was working within.
The Hoops boss also queried why the likes of Kyle Lafferty and Christophe Berra were signed to fit into Cathro’s 3-4-3 formation.
But a furious Daly slated Rodgers and told him to keep his nose out of Hearts’ business.
He said: “Brendan’s comments were absolutely disgusting. Disgraceful.
“I’ve followed Brendan’s career down south when he was at Liverpool.
“Not once did I hear him make a comment about the structures at Man United, Chelsea or Man City.
“But he comes to Celtic and thinks it’s acceptable to talk about the structure of our club.
“Brendan’s a knowledgeable man. But if he thinks Michael Smith, Rafa Grzelak, Lafferty, Berry or Conor Randall don’t suit a 3-4-3 system, that baffles me.
“To comment on it when he knows nothing about the structure at Hearts is a disgrace. It’s very disrespectful.”
Rodgers refused to get embroiled in a war of words with Daly after his side’s comfortable victory over the Jambos.
After unfurling the league flag, a double from Leigh Griffiths along with goals from Scott Sinclair and Callum McGregor sealed their win. And when quizzed about Daly’s rant, Rodgers said: “Listen, I hope Jon gets the job. I said what I did on Friday regarding my feelings towards a fellow manager losing his job.
“There’s no drama. I said when I came here I’d always be open, say what I think, then move on.
“Respect to Jon, he set his team up very well.”
