As the boss of Model Team, Michael O’Brien is an old hand at picking out new faces for the catwalks and style magazines.
But he had never seen anyone like Connor before.
He said: “When I downloaded the first pictures of him, it was that moment. We get 200-300 applicants a week, easily. I saw this picture of him and thought, ‘Jeez, everyone stop what you are doing come and look at this.’ It doesn’t happen very often.
“Six months later, this might not have happened but sometimes there is a certain synergy.
“On paper, Connor doesn’t tick all the boxes but he is unique. In many ways, he is the antithesis of a 6ft 2in model who works out at the gym.
“He is only 5ft 10in but he has this statuesque presence and he is a chameleon.
“He came along and shook it up a bit. Shook it up pretty hugely in fact.”
