Hipster haven is a Market leader with loads of great-value grub

-

My arrival at Chelsea Market in Glasgow’s trendy Finnieston didn’t get off to the best start when they had no record of our booking.

Luckily, they had plenty of space for our family get-together and a crisis was averted.

However, things improved with the arrival of our food.

I ordered the hipster special from the all-day Sunday brunch menu – poached eggs and avocado (£7.95). When in Rome…

The dad in our party had roast sirloin of beef with roast potatoes, caulif lower cheese and Yorkshire pud. It was so good, he was forced to share it.

The cauliflower cheese was divine and at two courses for £ 18, the set menu was good value. Kids can pick what they want from the main menu and get a smaller portion. Something I wish we’d heeded when the stack of buttermilk pancakes with banana and Nutella appeared in front of the six-year- old in our party.

Our sweet- toothed f iend couldn’t finish it and was amused when we asked for a doggy bag

We also ordered a ful l breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomato and black pudding from the brunch menu and it tasted as good as it sounds.

Chelsea Market may be in one of the trendiest areas in the country but there was a low-key, Sunday afternoon buzz to it.

We spotted plenty of other families, as well as those who had come from a stroll in nearby Kelvingrove Park – which is where we headed to afterwards to work off our lunch, clutching our doggy bag.
