Gerbil widow faces jail on shoplift rap

Clothes worth £800 found in car

- Norman Silvester

The partner of murdered gangster Kevin “Gerbil” Carroll is facing a prison sentence after she was caught shoplifting.

Kelly “Bo” Green was arrested at the Centre West shopping centre in East Kilbride in April after being found with £800 of stolen clothing in her car.

Two other men with her, Declan Paxton, 23, and Kevin Bain, 37, were cleared of the same charges.

Mum-of-three Green, 37, is the daughter of crime boss Jamie Daniel who died last year from cancer.

Green, f rom Drumchapel , Glasgow, will be sentenced next month and was g iven bai l by Sheriff Alasdair MacFadyen.

Hamilton Sheriff Court heard Green was stopped in her car by security staff in the car park and found with the clothes.

They decided to confront Green after seeing her acting suspiciously in H&M.

She is believed to be part of a shoplifting gang that includes her aunt, Annette Daniel, 55, who has 22 convictions for the crime and has served time in prison for thefts.

In 2014, Green admitted stealing £1200 worth of clothing from the Glasgow Fort shopping centre and Strathkelvin Retail Park in Bishopbriggs, near Glasgow, with two other women.

However, she was given a community payback order at Glasgow Sheriff Court, rather than a jail term.

That same year, Annette Daniel and Paxton admitted shop lifting at Buchanan Galleries shopping centre.

More than £900 worth of gear was found in a bag being carried by Paxton.

Daniel was given nine months in jail while Paxton, from Ruchill, Glasgow, was given a 135-hour community service order.

In 2012, Paxton was accused of going on a £12,000 shoplifting spree in Solihull in the West Midlands. A year earlier, when only 17, he and another woman admitted stealing £ 318 worth of clothes from a Glasgow store. Annette Daniel, who was arrested with the pair, had the same charges dropped.

Gerbil, 29, was shot dead in a car parked outside an Asda supermarket in Glasgow’s Robroyston in January 2010.

He was close to crime boss Jamie Daniel ’s son Robert Daniel and Green’s younger brother Francis “Fraggle” Green.

He was at the centre of the feud with the rival Lyons gang, which has seen a series of titfor-tat shootings this year.

Carroll and Green had two children together and lived in Lennoxtown, near Glasgow.

The couple’s £217,000 villa was later seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act and Green and her children forced to move out.

In 2006, we revealed the country’s largest shoplifting gang was being run by Annette Daniel and Jean McGovern, 43, a member of the McGovern crime family.
