Proud Huddersfie­ld boss David Wagner hailed his heroes after they thumped Crystal Palace 3-0 in their first Premier League game.

The Terriers are being tipped for an instant return to the Championsh­ip after their shock promotion.

But new boy Steve Mounie netted twice after Joel Ward’s own goal to silence Selhurst Park.

Wagner said: “You cannot moan if you play your first game in the top flight in 45 years and win 3-0 away.

“Did I expect this result? No but I hoped it could happen. It made for a wonderful afternoon.”
