Klopp feels a Brit sore at lost points
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was certain Miguel Britos’ controversial injury- time equal iser was offside as Watford held his team in a six-goal thriller.
The Reds looked as though they had put speculation over Philippe Coutinho’s future to one side to win their opening- day clash – only for Britos to head home from pointblack range in the dying moments.
Klopp said: “It was our first game against a physical, really strong side and we struggled a little bit in the first half but we did much better in the second. Of course Watford had their moments, particularly with set-pieces. The second goal was unlucky and the third one was offside.”
Stefano Okaka opened the scoring with just eight minutes gone and Abdoulaye Doucoure gave the Hornets the lead again shortly after Sadio Mane had equalised.
Liverpool rallied and levelled through Roberto Firmino’s penalty. Debutant Mohamed Salah poked the visitors ahead as Britos stole Marco Silva’s side a point.
The Watford boss said: We really deserved the result.”
