Stenny boss Brown Ferguson was left rueing the referee’s decision to not allow his side an early second-half goal.

Ref Chris Graham ruled out Harry Paton’s shot which hit the underside of the bar and bounced down.

The key moment came before Gable Endies’ Graham Webster cancelled out Mark McGuigan’s opener on 71 minutes.

Ferguson said: “We took the lead and needed another to kill it off. I thought Paton’s effort was clearly over the line and spun out.”

Montrose boss Stewart Petrie said: “A draw was probably fair overall.”
