LACK OF AYR Tired team win to cheer gaffer Ian

- Mike Wilson

Craig Moore, Declan McDaid and Robbie Crawford shot down plucky Forfar who were left raging at a disputed penalty for the opener.

The Hones t Men bounced back with a win after the 5- 0 loss to Hibs in the Betfred Cup.

But McCall admitted that heavy defeat had taken a toll on his men.

He said: “We didn’t play well and had a lot of tired legs but still deserved to win by that margin.

“Easter Road took a lot out of our team so it was good to get this game over.

“We weren’t at our best but did well to win.”

The breakthrough came after 34 minutes from the spot when Michael Travis was adjudged to have pulled back Andy Geggan.

Moore’s penalty was well saved by Marc McCallum but the striker followed up to ram home the loose ball.

It was 2- 0 four minutes later when McDaid ran on to a Geggan pass and lashed home. Crawford then wrapped it up with nine minutes left from sub Alan Forrest’s pass.

Loons boss Gary Bollan said: “I haven’t seen the penalty back but I’m a bit upset by it.

“The lads are saying Geggan lashed out at Dylan Easton not long before it and could have been red-carded.”
