Dave’s Binos delight

-

Dave Mackay praised his side after Stirling continued their perfect League Two start.

The Binos recovered after a sloppy start which saw them trail to a Paul Cairney strike before Calum Mor r ison levelled on 18 minutes.

A Darren Smith double and a Ross Kavanagh strike had Mackay’s side on easy street.

Rory McAllister hit back for Peterhead but a Scott Ross red card for an elbow killed off any hopes of a comeback.

Mackay said: “It was a sloppy start and it looked as though the long journey had taken its toll on the players’ legs.

“But after that, we sparked into life and for 35 minutes we were excellent.

“We carved Peterhead open at every opportunity and with the pace we have in our side, we can do that to teams.”

Furious Peterhead manager Jim McInally blasted Ross for his red card and vowed never to play the defender again.

He said: “My last words to Scott at half-time were don’t get sent off. That will cost him dearly because as long as I’m here, he won’t play.”

Montrose remain hot on the heels of Stirling after a 1- 0 win away to Annan.

And manager Stewart Petrie was thr i l led a f ter Paul Watson’s header kept them in second place, just two points off the title pace.

He said: “We’re over the moon. We were hanging on at the end but it was a really good fighting performance.”

Berwick Rangers caretaker boss Myles Allan distanced himself from the full- time manager’s job despite a 1-0 win over Cowdenbeath thanks to an Aaron Murrell strike.

He said: “When you’ve just lost your manager and it has been a hard week, nobody’s going to look back and ask if you deserved to win.”

Elgin moved up to third after a comfortable 3- 0 win at 10-man Edinburgh City.

Goals from Lewis Strapp, Brian Cameron and Jordan Allan sealed the points while Craig Thomson was ordered off for rock-bottom Edinburgh.

Kevin Nicoll earned Clyde a point against Stenhousemuir after Mark McGuigan had opened the scoring in a battling 1-1 draw.
