I DON’T FEAR CHOP

- Scott McDermott

Under-pressure Pedro Caixinha insists he doesn’t fear the sack if Rangers lose to Ross County today.

The Portuguese boss has watched Gers drop five Premiership points after just three games.

And defeat in Dingwall would see his team trail

leaders Aberdeen by eight points. Asked whether his conversations with the board had given him any sense his future may be in jeopardy if the Staggies result goes against him, Caixinha said: “At this club we don’t have those sort of meetings.

“I’m the face of this club and we’re working together to keep it moving. They (the board) have their job to do and I have mine which is specific to football.

“I never think like that. If I do, I won’t make the right decisions. I love my job and I love my work – I’m addicted to this. I’m working at a fantastic football club and I have a great squad of players. I’m happy here.

“I don’t talk about having support from the board. I have the character to do my job and take the club in the right direction.

“They’re doing their job. Mine is about delivering a strong, competitive team to try to win games. By the end if we win or not, decisions will be taken. But I’m only trying to win football matches.”

Caixinha says he suffered personal abuse at Santos Laguna – whom he led to a title – so he has the character to handle all flak. He said: “In Mexico the criticism got personal. That’s one of the things managers need to know how to deal with. If I live with it and focus on it I’m not going to be able to do the job the way I want to here.”

The Ibrox boss wants more arrivals before the transfer window shuts on Thursday.

And he added: “We know what we want. We’re working hard to get it and we’ll try to do it before it closes.”
