FREDO: I’LL GET 30 FOR BLUES

- Scott McDermott

Josh Windass is tipping red-hot Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos to score 30 goals this season. The Colombian, who is nicknamed The Buffalo, blasted in another two in the 4-1 win over Dundee yesterday to take his tally to seven in just five matches. Since April 5, including his start to the campaign at previous club HJK Helsinki, Morelos has hit 18 goals in 17 games.

And Windass, who also netted against Dundee, sees no reason why Morelos can’t bag 30 for Gers.

The midfielder said: “Alfredo is class. The ball always seems to fall to him at the right time and he always seems to put it away.

“That’s the sign of a quality striker and I hope he

can carry it on for himself and the club. Can he score 30? Well, he’s well on his way to that already with seven.

“He’s well on course so why not?”

Windass came off the bench to grab the killer second at Ibrox yesterday after Morelos had opened the scoring.

Summer signing Carlos Pena then grabbed his first goal for Gers before Morelos made it 4-0.

A late goal from Faissal El Bakhtaoui robbed Gers of a clean sheet but boss Pedro Caixinha was pleased with the overall performance.

He said: “The boys did really well. We had a lot of chances and played good football. The second goal calmed the team down.

“We were getting desperate because there were so many clear chances and we weren’t taking them.

“The third and fourth goals calmed us even more but I didn’t like the way we conceded the late goal. I was pushing the boys for a clean sheet.

“But the team are getting more confidence with their second victory in the league.”
