JIM CHAPMAN heaped praise on David Goodwi l lie for inspiring Clyde as they ended Stirling Albion’s 100 per cent league record.

The former Scotland striker scored the first-half equaliser dur ing an outstandin­g performanc­e at Forthbank.

Bully Wee boss Chapman said: “He is a fantastic asset to have. David does not need to demonstrat­e his capabiliti­es to anybody here because we know what he is capable of and we will use that.

“You can see sometimes he tries too hard. He is desperate to do well for the club and his team-mates. That is a fantastic spirit to have. It’s three great points and three great goals.”

Stirling went ahead in 12 minutes, ex- Clyde star Peter MacDonald forcing the ball home after he was set up by strike partner Darren Smith.

Three minutes before the break Clyde made it 1-1 after Goodwil lie burst through before calmly slotting the ball past keeper Cammy Binnie.

Just two minutes into the second period Mark Burbidge slammed the ball into the net to put the visitors ahead but Callum Morrison’s header saw Binos level.

Eleven minutes from time Barry Cuddihy slammed in Clyde’s winner.

Stirling boss Dave Mackay said: “It was a disappoint­ing result and performanc­e. We did not deal with Goodwillie who ran riot and caused all sorts of bother.”

Montrose gaffer Stewart Petrie was rel ieved Chris Templeman’s stoppage-time goal at Peterhead preserved their unbeaten start.

He said: “When you score that late in the game you are fortunate to come away with a point.”

Peterhead’s Jack Leitch rifled in a stunning 20-yard shot but Templeman headed home with seconds remaining.

Blue Toon boss Jim McInally said: “It was a kick in a teeth. I don’t think Montrose deserved anything out of the game.”

Elsewhere, Annan won 1- 0 to end Elgin City’s 10-month unbeaten home run.

Stenhousem­uir beat visitors Cowdenbeat­h 1- 0 whi le Edinburgh City edged Berwick by the same margin.
